25MAR20 - Free School Meals update - Voucher Scheme

25th March 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are aware, your child is currently eligible for a Free School Meal (FSM) due to a low income/receiving certain benefits. As your child is not attending school, due to the Coronavirus closure, we have been making your child’s FSM hot lunch available to be collected/delivered during the last 2 weeks.

However, we are exploring options of providing families/children, who are currently eligible for FSM and not in school, with vouchers to use in major supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda. The voucher is likely to be an online voucher that you would receive via your email address; this can then be used in the supermarket. We are not sure if/when this may happen but wanted to get your feedback.

We are sending out a SchoolsBuddy ‘invitation’ for you to advise us which of the 3 major supermarket’s (Tesco/Sainsbury’s/Asda) you would like vouchers for, if this system goes ahead.

You will see the ‘invitation’ on your home screen (in an orange box) – please click on this, say YES and then write your preferred supermarket name in the comment section (i.e. Tesco/Sainsbury’s/Asda). You will need to do this for every child.

If you are unable to access any of these supermarkets and currently use an alternative one, not listed above – please click on NO and then write the name of the alternative supermarket you normally use. At this point we do not know if other supermarkets will be offering the vouchers but we can enquire.

If you have any questions regarding this or you need some help with the ‘invitation’ in SchoolsBuddy please call the school office. Please answer your ‘invitation’ by 12pm Friday 27th March as we need to prepare and plan if this can happen.

Your sincerely,

Mrs C Dickens
