Scientific Year 5

This week Year 5 took part in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) workshop. The children were given the opportunity to design, build and decorate battery powered fan boats. They learnt a range of skills throughout the day and enjoyed working in teams. This is what the children thought.

I loved the experience as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) really helped me understand the art of engineering and when I’m older I’d love to be an engineer.  All of the year 5 classes took part in building, designing, decorating and racing our boats and at the end the groups participated in a tournament. The winner in each class then took part in a big race and the winners were the champions of the tournament.

The STEM workshop was a very good experience. I liked it because you got to learn a lot about engineering and it was fun to make boats with your group. I also liked it because there was a competition at the end. I really enjoyed this experience, I wish we could do it again.
