Behaviour
At the Bewbush Academy, we look for the rainbow - The Bewbush Rainbow.
The values held within our Bewbush Rainbow help our community to develop their social and moral character and prepare our children to be responsible, global citizens who are kind and considerate towards others. They will enable our children to meet our aims:
Our aim for all is to:
- Aim high
- Broaden horizons
- Develop confidence
Class Charters
Class and school charters set expectations for behaviour and are defined and agreed by children and adults within each class, at the beginning of the academic year. Class charters use the language of rights and responsibilities, including those taken from article 13 ‘I have the right to be heard’, article 28 ‘I have the right to learn’ and article 18 ‘I have the right to be safe’ from the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child).
Children are positively rewarded throughout the school day, through verbal recognition based on strong and positive relationships. Staff model and capture children demonstrating the Bewbush Rainbow, both informally throughout the school and on the ‘Bewbush Rainbow’ board in each classroom.
In addition to the above, children have further opportunities to be rewarded in the school or good behaviour through:
- Electronic badges sent to parents via ‘Marvellous Me’ app
- House points
- Stickers
- Certificates
This is not an exhaustive list and staff will reward children as they see best, based on their knowledge of, and relationships with, the children.
